L.A. Larkin and the Enviro Thriller
Sydney's Partners in Crime are thrilled to announce that their first special guest for 2012 is Aussie crime writer L.A. Larkin.
In today's world, where climate change, politics and the malpractice of pharmaceutical companies hit our headlines daily, L.A. Larkin's fiction couldn't be more topical.
Her first book,The Genesis Flaw, is an environmental thriller that delves into the issue of genetics and bio-tech companies. Her forthcoming Antactica-based thriller, Thirst, is a tale of survival and one man’s battle to prevent a global catastrophe. To research Thirst, L.A. spent time in Antarctica, learned about crevasse rescue and how to sew up a wound.
At February's Partners in Crime meeting L.A. Larkin will talk about the power and pitfalls of writing issue-based thrillers. It will be a fascinating insight into how a writer incorporates contemporary issues into a crime novel, and how to avoid the obstacles.
When: Sunday 5th February, 3pm.
