Crime and Cocktails – Sisters in Crime’s Port Phillip Seniors’ Festival event –  now online

Nearly eighty people signed up to watch Crime and Cocktails, Sisters in Crime’s Port Phillip Seniors’ Festival event, on Friday night, 16 October. For a change, the event was live but the talents of compere, Tara Mitchell, NSW author Ber Carroll and our behind-the-scenes Zoom Queen, Kelly Gardiner, ensured it went off pretty smoothly. It may have helped that viewers were invited to bring out their inner mixologist – bloody or virgin, cocktail or mocktail.

Viewers were able to ask questions. And it was fantastic to see that two were from the UK and one from the USA.

Ber Carroll, also known as B M Carroll, was born in Blarney, a small but famous village in Ireland. She has nine novels under her belt, the first to be published under her pen name being The Missing Pieces of Sophie McCarthy (Penguin Random House, 2018). Her latest novel, Who We Were (Allen & Unwin, 2020), is a suburban noir thriller about a school reunion that goes badly wrong.

Tara Mitchell headshotTara Mitchell grew up in Adelaide, aka ‘Strange Murder Capital of the World’, which meant that an interest in crime was somewhat inevitable. Tara is currently writing her first crime fiction series and scripting a true crime podcast. She is a national convenor of Sisters in Crime.
