Open invitation – Melbourne launch of Caroline de Costa’s, Blood Sisters (Wild Dingo Press)

Sisters in Crime Cairns member, Caroline de Costa, will be in conversation with author and Sisters in Crime’s member, Leigh Redhead, for the launch of Blood Sisters, Caroline’s third novel in her Cass Diamond series set in FNQ.

Also hear from journalist Margaret Simons on the topic of  sex trafficking.  Introduction by Carmel Shute, Sisters in Crime national convenor.

Blood Sisters explores sex trafficking and abortion, teenage emotions and adult mischief, in a story as densely branched as the rainforest itself.

Caroline de Costa was born and brought up in Sydney. After travelling and working in Europe, the Middle East and South America, including a stint in the Swedish Merchant Navy, she studied medicine in Dublin. She has practised as a doctor in the area of women’s health since 1973 and is now Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at James Cook University College of Medicine in Cairns, where she lives. She has always had a strong interest in the improvement and provision of services for women’s reproductive health. Since 1992 she has published many books to provide information for women about their health and health needs, as well as medical text books.

De Costa has also always been an avid reader of crime fiction and in 2015 published her first crime fiction novel, Double Madness, which was shortlisted in Sisters in Crime’s Davitt Awards in 2016. Missing Pieces is the second novel in the series.
